Tom was born in Moscow, and arrived in Montreal when he was 14 years old.
He has been a bike messenger in Montreal for the past 6 years, and is a well-known and active member of the community. He has published a monthly newsletter called The Montreal Messenger since 2002, and has also been an outspoken advocate for industry regulations and improved labour conditions over the extent of his time on the road.
He recently received his Graduate degree from the Concordia School of Community Economic Development, where the focus of his thesis was the development and implementation of an independent messenger company.
